Join Dr Cheryl Butler and the Otterbourne Conservation Group for an exciting evening to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt.
In an illuminating talk, the leading historian and author will talk about the role Hampshire and its people played in King Henry V’s journey to war and the now legendary battle.
Alongside this will be a special screening of the film version of Ben Musgrave’s gripping new play Across The Dark Water that explores the Southampton Plot, the conspiracy to overthrow Henry V here in the region while the King prepared for war in France.

Ahead of the premiere performance of new play The Road To Glory, Professor Anne Curry, one of the World’s leading experts on Agincourt and historical consultant to the Road to Agincourt project, will discuss the now legendary battle and its place in our history, in conversation with Dr Cheryl Butler. Audience members will also have an opportunity to ask questions, afterwhich Professor Curry will be signing copies of her new book, Agincourt: A New History.
Anne Curry is Professor of Medieval History and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Southampton, former editor of the Journal of Medieval History, and a specialist in the Hundred Years’ War. She was President of the Historical Association from 2008 to 2011 and a Vice-President of the Royal Historical Society.

Specially-commissioned to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt, with an emphasis on the pivotal role the region played in preparations for the now legendary battle, The Road To Glory tells the story of a group of young villagers who enlist in King henry’s army and set sail from Southampton to claim the throne of France for England… What happens will change their livers for ever.
Ahead of the performance of The Road To Glory, award-winning playwright Neil Duffield discusses the process of writing this exciting new play with its director Daniel Hill before the floor opens up for audience members to ask their own questions.
Neil Duffield has written more than 50 plays and adaptations which have been staged extensively throughout the UK and abroad. In 2006, his play The Lost Warrior was awarded the Arts Council England Children’s Award ‘for work which displays excellence, inspiration and innovation in children’s theatre.’

Join Hamble Valley Heritage guide Geoff Watts for The Road To Agincourt, an illuminating talk looking at the preparations for the 1415 campaign and the story of the route to the battle of Agincourt itself.
Discover how Henry V mustered his troops in the region, the effect it had and the legacy that lives on.
Geoff is part of Hamble Valley & Eastleigh Heritage Guides, an independent association of fully-trained volunteer guides. The group offers public guided walks that add interest in the extensive heritage of Eastleigh Borough for both local people and visitors.
