Young actors from across the South are being given the chance to audition for a part in a brand new play.
The Road to Glory has been written by award-winning playwright Neil Duffield and forms part of The Berry Theatre’s commemorations of the 600th anniversary of The Battle of Agincourt – Road to Agincourt.
Rehearsals start at the end of the school summer holidays but the Hedge End venue is holding auditions for anyone interested in taking part on June 21.
Daniel Hill, Drama Development Manager for The Berry Theatre and the production’s director said he was looking for young people aged between 14 and 21 to take part in the world premiere production.
Workshop auditions will be held at The Berry Theatre on Sunday June 21 at 12pm to 1.30pm, 2pm to 3.30pm and 4pm to 5.30pm. Participants may also be asked to attend a recall on the same day between 6pm and 7.30pm.

Daniel said: “The show is a fast paced ensemble production telling the tale of a group of young villagers, some of them barely out of childhood, who enlist in King Henry’s army and set sail from Southampton to claim the throne of France for England.
“Each has a different reason for going, and their expectations vary, but none has any experience of fighting in a war. The play follows them on their journey through France until finally they come face to face with the mightiest army in Europe. What happens will change their lives for ever.
“With an original score and beautiful design, physical action, stage combat and a compelling narrative, young people will have the opportunity to work with a professional creative team to tell a story that takes us from rural England to the battle fields of France.”

He said the auditions for the performance are workshop based so there is no need to prepare anything and no previous acting experience is required, just enthusiasm and the time to commit to the rehearsal schedule.
Rehearsals will take place at The Berry Theatre in Hedge End and start on Thursday August 27 with four days intensive rehearsals then continue every Wednesday and Thursday evening until the technical rehearsal and performances between October 28 and 31. The cast will also be required on the weekends of the September 5 and 6 and 19 and 20 September.
