Exclusive behind-the-scenes trips to heritage sites and the opportunity to learn from top historians and academics are just a couple of the perks of training to be a local heritage guide.
If you are interested in local history and heritage then this exciting opportunity could be for you.
The Culture Unit of Eastleigh Borough Council, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Gods House Tower Museum, is working together to offer a unique opportunity to learn new skills, to help support and promote local heritage, as part of our Road To Agincourt programme.
They are looking for volunteers who would like to train as heritage interpreters.
Anyone who joins the free programme will get:
- Behind the scenes visits to local heritage sites and attractions
- A lecture programme from top academics and historians
- A chance to be involved in a major festival and to be part of the opening of a new heritage attraction.
The training is FREE and expenses are covered and there is the opportunity for further training for anyone wanting to look at developing as a future blue badge guide.
The Culture Unit is welcoming expressions of interest. The lecture programme, site visits and skills training will run from the autumn. The festival programme is planned for 2017.
